THE IMPOSSIBLE PLAY CYCLE - Short play virtual reading series
COMING UP IN OCTOBER
Between July 1st and August 15th, local playwrights responded to our appeal and sent us their most impossible short play, those that they thought could never be put on stage. We are thrilled to announce that we have received 115 scripts! Now, we are reading and selecting short plays that we can present digitally as part of our New Works in Action program “THE IMPOSSIBLE PLAY CYCLE.” Selected plays will be rehearsed and shown on YouTube via Zoom in October.

LIVE PERFORMANCES AND EVENTS ARE POSTPONED PENDING THE REOPENING OF WASHINGTON THEATER
Two Washington Premieres!
As we welcome in the New Year, the pace picks up here at Spooky Action Theater as we prepare for our mainstage season productions. This season, we are looking forward to bringing you The Realistic Joneses by Will Eno, as well as Maple and Vine by Jordan Harrison. DC-local directors Gillian Drake and Stevie Zimmerman take on these two introspective dramas that will take audience members on a journey to launch your imagination!
2020 begins with the Washington premiere of The Realistic Joneses, by critically acclaimed playwright Will Eno. Two couples find they share a lot more than their last names. Ever stumbling towards meaningful relationships, humor caps their encounter with an unsettling truth that lies just below the surface.
Our 2020-2021 season starts in the Fall with Maple and Vine, by Jordan Harrison, directed by Stevie Zimmerman. Big City dwellers Katha and Ryu have become disenchanted with their 21st-century lives. How far will they go -- how far would you go to alter your life in the pursuit of happiness?
Reading Series Success!
Nov 12, 2019
We would like to extend a huge thank-you to everyone in our Spooky Family for coming out to support our Staged Reading Series this past month! The New Works in Action program's main mission is to provide playwrights with a testing ground for their works while they're in their final stretch, which would be impossible without your support!
Script submissions are currently closed for Round 12 of New Works in Acton. Please check back for information on when our next submission window will open.
